An Overview of the Labor in the Pulpit Program
The Labor in the Pulpit program places union speakers in Christian faith congregations to deliver brief presentations on the relationship between faith and labor during the Labor Day weekend period. This training offers an overview of the program, reviewing all of the elements of the program from identifying and recruiting congregations, to preparing effective presentations. It is especially beneficial for state federation leaders, area and central labor council staff, and affiliates who are new to the program, as well as those who have previously participated and are looking to strengthen their programs. The program is designed to provide an entry point for federated bodies to the faith community in their jurisdictions. Labor in the Bimah for Jewish congregations and Labor in the Minbar for Muslim congregations will also be discussed.

Volunteer Recruitment
This workshop will support anyone responsible for building a deep volunteer base for their union or federation. Learn about the most effective methods and messaging for moving union members to take action. Create a plan for moving key volunteers from low commitment tasks to high commitment tasks. Finally, understand the turnout cycle and what steps you can take to make sure volunteers follow through.
