Google Analytics
Next, you must add a new property to Google Analytics and get that tracking ID. With that ID, you’ll need to add a tag for Universal Analytics in the Google Tag Manager Container you set up for Union Hall.
Whether you're starting from a new Google Analytics account or an existing one, you need to create a Property. Start in Google Analytics for your new Union Hall property.
Add 2 Custom Dimensions for this property in Google Analytics.

Go to Admin > Custom Definitions > Custom Dimensions:
Adding these allows you to break your analytics into per site views if the local site doesn’t add it’s own code. Then add the 2 Dimensions.
1. Enter "Site Name" use the Scope “Hit” and mark as active.

Save, create an identical one for Site ID:

You should have something like the following when you’ve added both:

Set up User-defined variable types for web
To create a new user-defined variable from Tag Manager > Default Workspace:
In the left navigation, click Variables.
In the User-Defined Variables section, click New (Figure 1).
Click Variable Configuration and select the data layer variable type. (Figure 2)
Enter configuration options for the selected variable type.

- the variable. Use a naming scheme that is descriptive of the variable's function, e.g. "UnionHall Site ID." (Figure 3.).
- Set the Default Value by checking the box (Figure 3.), and filling in the Site ID & Site Name.
- Click Save.
- Repeat steps to add “UnionHall Site Name” user variable.
Add the Variables from the drop-down field:

Name the Variable “UnionHall Settings”, Click “Save”.
Navigate to the following directory: Tags > New > Name your Tag > Tag Configuration > Select Universal Analytics.

Put the Triggering value in using “All Pages” selection.

Name the Tag “Universal Analytics” Click “Save”.
Your settings for Universal Analytics should look like this:

Click “Save”.

That’s it! You’ve successfully implemented Google Analytics through GTM into your Drupal website. It may take 24 hours to show traffic in some displays.
